The Hannover Messe 2009 trade fair sent out a sign of great resolve in these times of general economic crisis. 6,150 exhibitors from 61 nations promoted their goods and services at this, the largest industrial trade fair in the world, showing around 4,000 world firsts. 210,000 visitors from over 80 countries visited the 13 parallel sector-specific shows, including ‘Wind’, which was being staged for the first time and achieved a resounding debut success with 156 exhibitors.
This year, Dörken MKS-Systeme was represented in Hannover with not one but two stands: as usual – along with other partners from the surface treatment sector – in the ‘SurfaceTechnology’ section and, for the first time, with a stand in the new ‘Wind’ sector show. Dörken MKS-Systeme was showing the new DELTA-PROTEKT® KL 101 zinc flake system, which has been specially developed for large steel components used in car making and the construction of wind turbines. Especially for larger bodywork components, where additional requirements in terms of resistance to stone chips are key, the new system provides outstanding microlayer anti-corrosion protection, eliminating the inherent risks of hotdip galvanising.
The new basecoat can also be used in combination with the new waterbased inorganic DELTA-PROTEKT® VH 331 GZ topcoat, which has an integrated lubricant additive. This system fulfils all of the automotive industry’s specifications in relation to anticorrosion protection and multifunctional qualities and simultaneously gives the component a permanently black surface.
In relation to the wind power industry, in which Dörken already has over 15 years of experience, the products we showed in Hannover were the wellknown DELTA®-TONE and DELTA®-SEAL systems, plus other systems from the DELTA-PROTEKT® range. The DELTA-MKS® systems give a wind turbine’s load-bearing connections, such as screws and mast bolts in sizes M30 to M64, a highly effective form of anticorrosion protection in the microlayer range.
The MKS-team on both stands recorded a lively flow of visitors every day – even if at the ‘Wind’ show there was clearly a greater feel of entering a new era than there was in ‘SurfaceTechnology’. Conclusion: ‘wind power’ is on the up – and Dörken MKS-Systeme are playing their part.
