Dörken MKS-Systeme GmbH & Co. KG of Herdecke staged its second International Asian Meeting from 8th to 11th May 2007 in Shanghai. Dörken MKS employees from eight countries assembled there to discuss strategies for developing the Asian markets over the coming years and to lay the foundations in working groups for the company’s future growth. As a supplier to the global automotive industry, a local presence in the core Asian markets is very important to Dörken MKS-Systems. Using concrete examples, participants debated and evaluated a number of different models, primarily for entry into future markets. One of the focuses here was on training up Asian coating companies to supply to American automotive industry standards. Fred Schulz, Dörken-MKS’s executive with responsibility for the USA, was able to provide some important information and help on this issue.
One highlight of the meeting was the R&D department’s presentation of DELTA-PROTEKT® KL 108, a new zinc flake basecoat, produced to the specifications of carmaker Toyota, which is currently still undergoing trials. The number 1 in the automotive industry also likes to lead the way in technology and is putting its faith in coatings that not only provide highly effective anti-corrosion protection, but that also take rigorous account of all relevant environmental requirements.
