Adhesion test according to DIN EN ISO 10683

An adhesive tape with a defined adhesive strength (7±1 N/25mm) is secured firmly to a coated surface and pulled off abruptly.

Where good adhesion to the underlying material (substrate) exists there is scarcely any residue of the coating material on the adhesive tape, whilst in the case of poor adhesion the coating adheres to the adhesive tape. Small quantities of the coating material adhering to the adhesive tape are permissible.Visible base metal and the coating material on the adhesive tape result from a lack of adhesion. If the coating film is visible on both the surface of the underlying substrate and on the adhesive tape, this likely results from a lack of cohesion.
