Quality inspections

Corrosion testing in artificial atmospheres

Corrosion testings simulate the corrosion of a component in nature in a short time and are now the key element of currently-standard quality inspections for surfaces. In addition to classical test methods such as salt spray tests and common climate change tests, these also include coating thickness measurement methods or mechanical tests.

The aim of this seminar is the fundamental introduction to the topic of corrosion testing.

  • Types of corrosion, mechanisms of corrosion and corrosion protection • Knowledge of DIN EN ISO 9227 – NSS
  • Comparison of the most common alternating tests
  • Assessment of corrosion tests
  • Coating thickness determination forms (grinding, magnetic inductive and X-ray)
  • Pre-existing damage (heat, stone impact and de ned cracks)
  • Adhesion testing (tape test, cross-cut and mandrel test)

Target group

  • Laboratory employees
  • Application engineers
  • Production managers
  • Plant operators
